Anxious Kids, Anxious Parents: Strategies to Solve the Worry Puzzle

Back by popular demand, Lynn Lyons will provide families and educators with a jargon-free, step-by-step plan to solve the puzzle of worried kids. Action, not avoidance, is the key to success, but most adults unknowingly strengthen anxiety by trying to accommodate its demands. Learn the difference between healthy worrying and debilitating anxiety and how to interrupt the link between anxiety and depression.The seven concrete skills apply to kids (and adults) of all ages because they target the process of worry and anxiety, a process that looks and feels overwhelming, but is predictable and manageable when you have the right information.

Lynn Lyons has been a psychotherapist for 24 years and specializes in the treatment of anxious children and their parents. She is the co-author with Reid Wilson of Anxious Kids, Anxious Parents: 7 Ways to Stop the Worry Cycle and Raise Courageous and Independent Children and the companion book Playing with Anxiety: Casey’s Guide for Teens and Kids. She is known for her focus on providing concrete, usable skills and her integration of humor, homework, and clinical hypnosis.
