BEST Snowflakes

The BEST Snowflakes for Education program raised $1,915 this year, thanks to your support. BEST would like to thank everyone who donated, and we would like to encourage everyone to visit the schools and see the lovely snowflakes hung in the lobby. BEST would also like to thank Silvana DiBlasi, Paije Andrews, and Beth Mills for donating their time and effort for the Snowflakes for Education program.

With the gift -giving season upon us I thought I would take the opportunity to put out some fun ways for kids to continue learning math facts and mathematical concepts. Below are some lists of recommended math literature books, math board games and math apps that you will hopefully find helpful.

Search children’s math books by topic.

The list is in order from simpler topics to more advanced ones. It contains pictures and descriptions of many books per topic.

10 Fun Parent Tested Math Board Games.

The site has pictures, descriptions and short parent reviews of each game.

36 Math Apps for Elementary Students from Edushelf.

This link contains apps with game based learning, math manipulatives, drill exercises and interactive simulations.

5 Excellent New Math Ipad Apps for Kids.

This site has descriptions, pictures and ratings of 5 new apps in 2014 and it also has a link to more apps previously recommended on the site.

Art Donations Needed!

Mrs. Ashmore-Davis is looking for a few items to use with our next clay unit if anyone has them to donate!

She needs the following:

1) small plastic plates

2) plastic grocery bags or large ziplock type bags

3) clean rags

4) wooden block ‘bricks’ (approx. 3″-5″)

if you have any of these items, please send them in to the Art Room.
