Safety Drill

April 29, 2015

Dear Parents,

Today we conducted a safety drill at our school. Today’s drill was a lockdown drill.  In collaboration with the Boxford Police, this drill is part of the Spofford Pond School’s Safety Team’s responsibilties for preventing, practicing and debriefing on various safety concerns.  I am happy to report that the drill was a success. As with any drill, we learned a great deal from our practice and debriefing. I encourage you to discuss this drill with your child. Please contact me if you have any questions or concerns.

End of Year Assessment Schedule

Dear Parents,

I am sending out our May schedule for PARCC and Grade 5 Science MCAS. Based on our experience with the PARCC administration last month,  we  have  adjusted our schedule to condense it into the span of seven school days.  We found that we were able to test an entire grade level at one time and this has allowed us to complete the test within fewer school days.

The schedule is listed below:

Monday May 4          ELA Grades 5 & 6

Tuesday May 5          ELA Grades 4 & 6

Wednesday May 6     ELA Grade 3

Thursday May 7        Math Grades 5 & 6

Friday May 8                 Math Grades 5 & 6

Monday May 11       Math Grades 3 & 4

Tuesday May 12            Math Grade 3 & 4

MCAS-Grade 5

Monday May 18th & Tuesday May 19th Grade 5 Science MCAS

Please contact me if you have any questions.

Newly Painted Playground!

The children were very excited at recess today as we are on our way to a very happy looking playground!  This past weekend several members of our school community came together to embark on a recess improvement plan for the children!  On Saturday and Sunday, we began painting games on the blacktop for the children to play!  I have several families to thank for their time and dedication to this project.   I want to thank the following families and staff  for assisting in the painting of our playground this weekend:

The Rivers Family (the masterminds behind the amazing design!!!)

The Bolzan Family

The Novack Family

The Hubbard Family

The Sousa Family

Staff Members:

Mrs. Kathy Magee

Mrs. Robin Mullen

Ms. Erika Giacchino

It was wonderful to have all of your help and assistance!  We look forward to finishing it off in the near future. I have included a few pictures for you to see!
