Message for Families of Current Grade Five Students

Dear Current 5th Grade Parents and Guardians,

You will be receiving a flyer about Project Adventure in backpack mail in the next week or so. As part of the 6th Grade Activities for our children in the 2016-2017 school year the kids will attend a team-building program in Beverly, MA called Project Adventure on Thursday and Friday, October 6 and 7.

The Project Adventure website is if you would like to see all the activities your student can participate in. The cost per student for Project Adventure is $140.00. This covers two 6-hour day sessions packed with activities that foster self-esteem and teamwork. This fee also covers transportation costs. To ensure its success, we need to register all student participants and collect the fee for Project Adventure prior to the end of this school year. (The deposit is due over the summer to secure our spot)

Please be on the lookout for the flyer, with more information, in backpack mail.

Thank you,

The 2016-2017 Sixth Grade Activities Committee

Dear Parents,

Due to the efforts of our Green Team members, we were awarded a new STEAM Lab through the Boston Celtics and National Grid “Energy Assist Award!  Three of the Green Team members, Sarah McVey, Bailey Baptista and Caroline Belanger created a video that won this amazing award!    With this award we won a newly designed  STEAM lab that was created and put together by the Boston Celtics, National Grid and City Year.  This happened over the course of FOUR weeks!!  The STEAM lab received 25 Chromebooks, 13 Samsung tables, a new Chromecast television, an outdoor greenhouse, new greenhouse grow- lights, new lab tables & chairs, lego mindstorm robotics, K’Nex and Makey-Makey invention kits.

Today was the BIG unveiling with the Boston Celtics and National Grid!  We had a special Green Team learning time in the new lab with  Celtics players Leone Powe  and Kelly Olynyk.  We also had a surprise visit from the team mascot, Lucky!  From National Grid,  Terrence Sobolewski was with us as well!    The entire school participated in an amazing assembly with the Celtics and National Grid.  They heard powerful messages about perseverance, believing in your self, working hard, collaboration and teamwork. It was truly an amazing experience for all!

Here are few pictures for now….however, a video recap will be posted  in the next few days for you to view.  We had several media outlets here today…so look out for us in the news and on social media with this award!

Morning Arrival and Afternoon Dismissal

Dear Parents,

We have had some challenges with traffic in our parking lot at morning arrival and afternoon dismissal.  You can help us to avoid these difficulties by taking extra care when traveling in our parking lot.  Please follow the car line in and follow the arrows through the parking lot to the front of the building.  Please do not cut across lanes. When exiting the parking lot, please do so cautiously.   I appreciate your cooperation and help with this!
