Student Mock Election

Dear Parents,

With this being a presidential election  year, our classrooms have been engaged in civics education.  With every  presidential election year, we have our students participate in  a mock elections.   Next week our grades 3 and 4 students will vote on their favorite ice cream flavor and our students in grades 5 and 6 will vote on the  presidential candidates.   This, coupled with the focus civics  and democracy  in the classrooms will provide our students with important lessons about about our government and citizenship.  We will not engage in dialogue or debate about the political issues within this particular election process, but focus only on educating our students about the election process, citizenship, democracy and civics.  Here is a  civics education link that has some great information  should you want to talk at home about the election process.
