On December 20th, the 5th and 6th graders welcomed David McGillivray to Spofford Pond School. David is best known as being the race director for the Boston Marathon, but his inspiring story takes us back to his early childhood where he decided that despite adversity, he was a capable of accomplishing unbelievable goals. David is not just an incredible athlete, he is a philanthropist having raised millions of dollars for such charities as the Jimmy Fund, Carroll Center for the Blind, and many children’s charities. As a thank you gift, our school donated $500 from the PTO Enrichment Fund towards David’s personal charity, “The DMSE Children’s Fitness Foundation”.
