The Boxford PTO and school community were extremely saddened to hear about the recent passing of Officer Michele Nowak. Officer Nowak was a large part of our Boxford school community, clearly cared about our children and had a great rapport with our students. She knew many of our students personally as she taught the D.A.R.E. program for sixth graders at Spofford Pond. The D.A.R.E. program empowers students to choose to live life free of violence and substance abuse by teaching them about the dangers of drugs, and giving them strategies to deal with high risk situations. Always volunteering, Officer Nowak performed with flair and good humor for the “Police Car Ride To School” – a hugely popular item at the annual PTO auction, and donated in conjunction with the Boxford Police Department. She loved and was loved by our students, our community, and could be seen everywhere in the tri-towns. Her death leaves us with broken hearts, but her life and memory live on around us through her good works. As a way to honor Officer Nowak, the Boxford PTO has approved a donation of $500 to the Boxford D.A.R.E. program in her name. We are truly grateful for having known her, and proud to have had her as a member of our community.
