Tri-Town Council asks…What’s in YOUR lifepack? Fill it with Assets!

This week’s Asset is:“Assets” represent the building blocks for thriving youth, families, and community —- everyday things that anyone can do to support our youth … and everyone can be an “Asset Builder”!

Asset # 2: Positive Family Communication:

Positive family communication is about parents and children communicating openly, respectfully, and frequently. Establishing positive communication when children are young may help keep the channel open as they move into adolescence.

Asset Tip: Dark and chilly fall evenings are perfect for thinking about all the dreams family members have for the future for themselves and for each other. Find a quiet evening to spend together. Ask your children about their dreams and hopes, about all the things they want to do in their lives. Tell them about your aspirations, and what you’ve done to overcome your disappointments when things haven’t worked out the way you’d hoped.
