Created by Moms, inspired by Dr. John Ratey’s book “Spark” and founded on the principle of Active Kids = Active Minds, BOKS (Build Our Kids’ Success) is a 45 minute before-school physical activity program that aims to enhance academic performance and the overall health of kids. Several studies establish that moderate to vigorous physical activity stimulate brain function and creates the physiological conditions for students to be ready to learn. The program incorporates fun, non-competitive activity in games, relay races and obstacle courses. Each lesson plan also includes a BOKS Bit and a short nutritional talk.
