The Middleton Health and Wellness Committee would like to extend an invitation to the families of Topsfield and Boxford to join us for the next in our Parent Speaker Series on Tuesday, May 15th from 7-8:30 p.m. in the Howe-Manning Cafeteria entitled “Raising Lifelong Athletes: Exercise as a Strategy to Create Healthier Children Ages 5 to 99”. In today’s fast-paced, media-driven world, our children are challenged at every turn to be a “better” version of themselves — smarter, fitter, funnier, thinner, stronger. What parents (and other adults) intuitively do to help our kids become “healthier” often backfires because it’s externally driven and not connected to a daily habit. Exercise creates a central context around a healthy lifestyle, anchoring decisions on food choice, sleep and self-care. Speaker Patrick McCann, co-founder of Endurance Nation, will discuss best practices for engaging your child/athlete using exercise as a framework to foster positive growth and development. He shares how even for the non-athlete bringing daily exercise into your life can improve your outlook in many different areas.
