Mrs. Rowen’s Retirment

Mrs Rowen (Laurie Olshuff-Rowen) is retiring in June. Laurie had been a preschool teacher at the Cole School for 20 years and has taught hundreds of children. We are trying to get the message out to as many people as possible so please share this email with other families too.
We are putting together a scrapbook from her current and former students and asking families to submit a page. If you would like to contribute a page please submit the following: 8 1/2 x 11 sheet of paper, flat (no 3-D). Photos and stickers are fine. Examples: photos of her student then and a current photo, something you remember about Mrs. Rowen, something your child learned in her class, or just a written letter, etc.
Please include the child’s name and the years they were in her class.
You may mail this to me or leave in my mailbox at 18 Livermore Rd. You may also drop it off in the main office at the Cole School. They have an envelope to collect them. Deadline is June 10

Last Call! Please take our parent/guardian survey. The survey will close on Monday, June 4th.

Dear Parents,

The Spofford Pond School Site Council invites parents and guardians of Spofford Pond School students to participate in this annual survey. The Site Council, a group of parents and teachers who advise the Spofford Pond School principal and the Boxford School Committee, will use the results of this survey to help us make recommendations about future programs and initiatives. We review responses and read all comments carefully and past surveys have lead to many new programs and improvements to the school.

Your responses to this survey are anonymous. There are opportunities to learn more about our school through embedded links. You can visit them while you take this survey, or at another time at your convenience. Thank you for taking the time to complete this survey.

Please access the survey through this link:

Tri-Town Council asks…What’s in YOUR lifepack? Fill it with Assets!

No matter what age you are, having fun and “playing” is serious business. Really. Play is a banquet for the brain, a smorgasbord for the senses, nourishment for the body and the mind. Play is especially important for kids as it foster creativity, thinking, learning and friendship skills…all ASSETS they are adding to their lifepacks! Play is so important for kids’ health that it’s been recognized by the United Nations High Commission for Human Rights as a right of every child.

TTC Asset Tip: Find time to play as a family.

  • Play outside together – teach your kids a favorite outside game from your childhood.
  • Have a camp “in” – Pitch a tent (or build a blanket fort) right in your living room and let the family fun begin!
  • DIY pizza parlor – have some pre-made pizza shells and lots of toppings at the ready so kids can create their own personal pizzas
  • Make a family movie – with the ubiquity of smartphones and video cameras, get the creative juices flowing and make your own family movie.

Hello Coaches, Parents, and Players,

Registration is now open for Fall 2018 and Spring 2019 town soccer! The site we have used for the last 10 years is no longer in business so when you sign up you will notice some differences. Please note that you will need to make a new account, even if you had one in the past. For Travel Players only, you will also be required to upload a photo and a copy of your child’s birth certificate, even if you have submitted them in the past.

Registration is open via the site below for kids Grades Pre-k through 6th (based on the grade they will be entering in Fall 2018). Kids who will be playing Travel soccer next year (i.e., those entering Grades 3-6 in Fall 2018) need to attend tryouts for team placement.  In order to attend tryouts on Tuesday, May 29 you need to register by Sunday, May 27. Details for tryouts are below. This is the only date for tryouts so players should make every effort to be there. EVERYONE who tries out will make a team.

To Register:

Tryouts for travel players will be held on Tuesday, May 29 at Chadwick (Spofford).

Players should wear shinguards and bring a ball and a water bottle.

Grade 3/4:  4:30PM – 6PM with registration starting at 4PM

Grade 5/6:  6PM – 8PM with registration starting at 5:30PM  (This is a change from years past and we are asking players to wear their Boxford soccer shirts and shorts to tryouts – can wear any socks you would like). If your child has not played before and therefore does not have a uniform, they will be assigned a pinnie.

Please note that beginning in Grade 7 teams are Tri-town and registration is done via the following link:
